A statutory authority under the Dock Labour Board Act, whose mandate is to take care of the interests of dock labour and allocates them work as required by port authority. The concept of Dock Labour Board in India is being gradually dispensed with as the seggregation of on-board & shore component had made port cost extremely high - thus indirectly making Major Ports non-competitive.
