ECHO SOUNDER

An apparatus for measuring the depth of water by means of vibrations sent out from the vessel. In measuring the depths by echo methods the ship emits and underwater impulse which travel southward through the sea at uniform speed and after reaching the sea bed part of the sound impulse is reflected & returns to the ship in the form of echo, where its arrival is registered by electronic receivers. This is an important asset in monitoring the approach channel conditions in the ports.
