This is a charter in a "chain" of charters where one party, the "head charterer" uses the provisions of a "sub-let" or "relet" clause to charter the ship to another charterer. The head charterer remains responsible for fulfillment of the contract between him and the owner. In a sub-charter situation, the original charterer can appear to the sub-charterer to be the "owner" and is referred to as the "disponent owner".
