WORLDSCALE

Worldscale is an unified system of payment of freight rate for a given tankers cargo. WORLDSCALE was established in 1952 by London Tanker Broker's panel on the request of British Petroleum and SHELL to find an average cost of shipping oil from one port to another. The same scale is being used today although it has been merged with American Tanker Rate Schedule. in 1962. By 2002 the table included the average cost of 3,20,000 voyages in permutations from one load and one discharge port to five load & ten discharge ports. Worldscale is produced by Worldscale Association (NYC) Inc. for America & Association (London) for rest of the world.
