Lease of a ship wherein the charterer takes over the ship together with the rigid of management and control. In fact, it becomes the virtual owner of the vessel during the term of the charter. Charter has the right to engage and pay the master and crew who are his employees. The ship-owner merely receives compensation as hire payments.
